Does 3.0 render in 24 bit WAV files? Second, where can I get 3.0, and what about the PACE dilema? I'm still running an old G4 Mac, but I think if I found the right PC, and could get a working 3.0, I would jump ship, so I could take advantage of all the cool new things from Mike Audit. Thanx. ps. sorry about the May 5th rant, my wife says I can't drink and type ever again!

Hehehehe, I liked the rant, I got what you were saying. Some stuff just doesn't really need a whole lot of "improving on" - I have a Hammond M3 here I'm going to be fixing up someday soon.

3.0 definitely bounces in 24 bit, not so sure about rendering but I assume yes.

You can download Paris 3.0 (and earlier) directly from the EMU link and then you get a 7-day grace period to authorize it before it expires. The last I heard, ID sets one day a week aside to process authorizations, so you probably want to time it strategically - ie grab it and request your serial from ID on a Sunday evening so they get the request Monday AM, thus in time for whichever day they do it. PACE wasn't much of a dilemma for me on Mac, it just tended to work.

And yeah - PC is where the PARIS action's going to be, going forward - and I say that as a former die-hard Mac OS9 PARIS user myself.

Thanx for your help Kerry. I was glad to see that Brian T turned up as well, kind of makes a guy feel warm and fuzzy inside! Later

Oh, by the way, I got my first Hammond, an M3, in 1978. I loved it and used it for years. Iv'e also had the B3, the Porta B, and currently still have the C2, w/ TrekII percussion, a BC (very cool) a 21H Leslie, an 825 Leslie, a Cordovox Leslie powered by Sovtek Mig 100 amp and Electrovoice Speaker, and a Hammond XK3, for my over the road ERIC DODGE gig. I love this stuff, and the M3 is one of my favorites. Adding FOLDBACK I would guess? Anyway have fun, cause they're AWESOME. John

Nice collection! Yeah, I've heard great things about the M3. Mine's "motorboating", making a chopped-up sound like insanely heavy vibrato - I've been advised by our local Hammond wiz to try "zapping" it with a 9v battery to fry off the dendrites, ever tried that? If that doesn't work, it may effectively be a write-off. But if it does, I'm going to see what other sorts of trouble I can get into with it - maybe the foldback mod, *definitely* the Leslie mod.

I've never had any troubles (knock on wood) with any of my Hammonds other than bad tubes. I'm going to change all the caps in the tonewheel generator, and preamp this summer on the old C2, and my Leslie 21H could use caps and new resistors as well. Hope you can get the M3 working right. I do recall on my M3 I could get it to do somthing of a motor boat sound by putting the vibrato knob in between the C3 and C2 settings, but beyond that, have no experience in this particular area, sorry man! Anyhow, best of luck, and get that Leslie wired up!

So far I've only rendered one track at a time so I don't know about stereo files.

So, Yes. v3.0 can render 16 or 24bit files to same right in the Editor window. It can also render a 24bit mono file to a 16bit mono file. And vice versa. I render up to 24bit when I've previously recorded a 16bit vocal track and I need a 24bit file to use in Melodyne.
