Use a dremel, a DVM to check for shorts/correct wiring and you can do this.
Expect to glue one side of each end, as you'll be cutting the clasp off of
one side. Or, you could just hit a electronics parts website and order the
right ends and cable :)
Me? I hacked up some IDE's I've been using for years, but it takes a few
tools and a steady hand/eye coordination.

I've always made my own. Aaron is right though; once you tool the width
down, you lose a clapsing mech on one end. I unclasp everything first, get
out the scissors and make the correct cable length, cut off the peirced
ends, narrow the conductors down to the number required, etc. Once that
prep is done, align the cut cable ends over the knives and use the clasp to
repunch the new cable ends. Use some blocking to do this.... its easy.
Once punched down, one end of the cnnector body is already clasped... just
super glue the other end suspending the connector vertically - cut end down.
Dry - test - go.
