Here is the spec page: http://www.apple.com/logicstudio/logicpro/specs.html

LaMont is not gonna be happy, it says: "Internal audio resolution: 32-bit
floating point; 64-bit precision where required"

Looks cool so far, still reading up on it.

The comping is slick, but I don't know how revolutionary it is; ) looks
a lot like free form mode in Paris. It's all slick and looks easy to use,
and no more dongle!

Looks cool as well. I think the reason for the 32 bit stuff is due to OX-X
64 bit is not ready.

-Audio editing, big improvement.
-Still same looking Mixer, but not a deal breaker..

This version of Logic 8 looks to be an interim release.

Logic pro 8 with Soundtrack pro 2, Studio Instruments, MainStage live virtual
instruments, Studio Sound Library, and Studio Effects with space designer
and Mastering Tool, it's a hell of a buy at $499.00. I would say that price
helps offset the price of a new Mac. That's one more reason to buy a Mac!

Oh come on DJ, you know deep down in side your heart, your lusting for a 3.0GHz
Quad-Core Intel Xeon “Clovertown” Mac Pro with Logic Studio Pro; ) We
know your fear is simplicity, give in to the force, it will be Ok. You could
still run Cubase and Windoze.

If you went the Apogee rout you would have all that hot rod power for plugins.
If you don't get this set up you could.....well you know.

P.S. That price would have been 1997, 1987 you could add two more zeros.

It is a nice deal, BUT...I would've rather tha they'd just integrated of the
forementioned apps into 1 app, and not several.

I think the only stand alone program is Soundtrack pro 2, the rest are integrated.
You can import export, and drag and drop multi track audio between the
two programs. With dual monitors and program switching it shouldn't be a
problem. I'm glad they included Soundtrack pro 2.

Speaking of Apple prices, their monitor prices are outrageous. People in
the Mac community are getting noisy, I think Apple will be dropping prices
by January MacWorld. Dell is killing them on price and quality right now.

Now Dave, you know you can get a new Mac that will run Logic Studio Pro 8
for $599.00; )

HI James,
He can run Cubase just fine on the Mac side too. :)

Logic 8 is one of the main reasons I pushed to have us become Apple
dealers awhile ago.
Was kinda hoping thought that Apple would come up with new ideas in
Logic 8 instead of just fine tuning everybody else's ideas. But is still
looks great and is a big improvement over the old versions.

If DJ is gonna buy a Mac it's gonna be from me or hes a dead man!!!
Plus our pricing is way better anyways.

Chris

Hi James,

Yep for sure Dell is not anymore competitive than Apple for the same
specs. I've already had a Dell precision 690 hear to troubleshoot for
some audio compatibility issues and they are not at all higher quality
and the Mac. I don't even bother selling the PC Xeons at this point.
They are working great for Video stuff like Premiere and Vegas but the
audio software and hardware is having tough time. At this point if
someone really wants a 8 core machine I would only point them to a Mac
Pro. That being said if the AMD gets there shot together on the PC they
have a chance to get back some of that the high end workstation/server
market. They still have a better buss design than Intel for the Multi
CPU based systems.

Here are 3 systems from today.

Dell - $4160.00 (The Dell configuration is not capable of letting you
choose the right number CPUs to do the quad 3.0ghz) According to their
web site add $1000 for one Quad 3.0ghz CPU so the price goes up to more
than 5160.00 but you only get one Quad core CPU. It will be at least
another $500 minimum to really have a 3.0 ghz 8 core machine. The video
card is crap and will have limits to what size and type of monitors you
can use.

The only way I'm gonna e3nd up with a Mac is to purchase 4 of them and then
tear them all down until they are nothing but a pile of components lying on
the floor, then I will build my own Mac.

Like you need all that...

I built MY Mac out of a pile of sand and some used pop cans.

Then I reinvented the internet, downloaded the free Mac development
tools, wrote my own version of OSX, and compiled all my software.

Once I had the email program working, I immediately started complaining
about the cost to every news group I could think of.

THAT'S how you build a Mac! :^)

Cheers,

I am humbled and in awe. That is sooo cool!!!. I I guess now I'm going to
have to go out and mine a bunch of iron ore, nickel and chromium, build a
foundry, use the foundry to create steel, use the steel to build a drilling
rig, and drill my own oil well, then use some more steel to create an oil
refinery, use the refinery to make plastic,. Then mine some more copper for
the wiring and crunch up some sand fro the silicone and make a iant wafer
about 10 ft. across and pur 500 trillion transistors on it, then I'll steal
your code and start marketing "my Mac".
