i've got it on the mac and pc's way more developed for the pc so i'm
going to wait for it to catch up. but i do like it on the pc. i wish
logics tool setup was more like reapers where your basic tools live in
the corners of the sound segment. when 8 comes out i don't know if i
want to buy it again as i have the ed. version and reaper may be the
next choice.

Hi James,
Its still more of a alpha version. It's gotta a while to go before it
works the same as the PC version. I think he might be trying to get them
both be in sink with the 2.0 versions.

If This guy Jason keeps developing Reaper, and keeps the price the same,
all the other companies are going to have problems competing. Who is going
to want to pay a thousand dollars when you can buy Reaper for $39.00?

His development for Mac OSX seems to be rapid.

Now , if we could only get him to develop Reaper for Paris.....I Know, Shut
up.

Hi James,
Ha actually his name is Justin. Frankel. It will probably go up it
price at some time or another but even if it doubles it is still a
bargain and still worth every penny.
It makes me chuckle when I think how much Saw Studio is and how little
if offers. The only other program that I've seen that runs this well at
very low latencies is Samplitude.
Also it is the only program I've seen so far and will properly address 8
cores on a Xeon.

There is a Reaper user named Jason who contributes allot to the Reaper
forums and such and people always confuse em.

And I think he's making Ardour look pretty bad too... ;-)

When I looked at Ardour in the past there was no VST support. It seems like
it's coming along nicely now. With companies like SSL behind them, I think
they will give the commercial software guys a run for the money. What do
you think?

Doug, I believe you posted something about bad experiences developing for
Ardour, what are your thoughts about Ardour?

HI James,
It seems to me like it has pretty much come to a stop with updates. They
still haven't even updated their installer package. It's was the only
software that I gave up trying to install on Ubuntu.
Everything else was based on the newer user friendly methods.

Chris

If it weren't for the Audacity guys, I don't think Ardour would have VST
support. I especially like how the Ardour guys are complaining about buggy
VST plugins crashing Ardour and claiming it isn't Ardour's fault that it
crashes... (Exception handling anyone?)

SSL isn't actually supporting him any more...

> Doug, I believe you posted something about bad experiences developing for

While there is indeed a beta version of 2.0 out, it seems to me that Paul is
spending more time looking for funding and trying to get people to help him
for free (Google Summer of Code for example) than he is spending on actual
coding.

BTW, if you're really into the free stuff, have you checked out Rosegarden?
Less hype, but more capabilities...
