I have the Neve 1073 EQ. Do I want the 33609 comp or the 1081 EQ next?

Help! They're having sale! And I have $75 credit! And I can't afford 'em
both!

You need both or you will die.

Seriously...since you have the 1073eq, I'd probably go with the 33609 comp....kiks
major booty on Snare. The 1081 is more versatile, since it has more bands,
and you will love it, but since you have an eq, if you can't swing both,
I'd go with the comp.

......and more UAD-1 cards since the compressor will use around 70% of the
resources of a single card.

Well yes...there IS that. They've got the system down, make way cool plugs
that take up so much power that you need more cards. I've got 3, so far.
I think you've got 36 or 37, right?

Ha! You could always load up an old machine with 4 more cards and use
FX Teleport over LAN into your main DAW. Cheaper than a Magma and gets
you over the 4 card limit if it works.

:)

FXT doesn't work with PDC on UAD-1's, or so I've heard. I guess I could get
Cubase SE for my 2nd DAW though.

I don't think the existing authorizations would work on a 2nd box. I wonder
if anyone has asked UA if there is a way around the four card limit?

Indeed, that would probably work. :)

I did ask them. It's the driver. It could be amended, but at the time I was
told that more than 4 of these cards would overload the bandwidth when
paired with audio interfaces which are aso using bandwidth. Seems like PCIe
would change all that. As far as existing authorizations go, I also asked
them agout this. there was some willingness to look at this at the time but
I never pursued it because I never bought a 5th card. I've seen posts on the
UAD newsgroup since then that this request has been denied to some users
there.
