Hey guys, as pricing for EDS cards have dropped, I've purchased a couple more
to add to my 3 card system. Typically, I keep one as a back up, but I wanted
to know if there were any problems adding a fourth and possibly the fifth
to my 8 channel Avid extender.
I spoke with Gene and recall him mentioning that there might be a problem
going beyond 3 cards (Gene, was that within the PC?).
Before purchasing the extender, my Win98 PC worked with the 3 cards installed
and I put in the fourth to test and it worked, though I only tested it for
a short period.
I recall reading posts of larger systems, but can't recall the details.
Thanks,
Tyrone

I've got 4 in a magma with no issues on WinXP. I seem to remember
someone having some issue with the avid box/drivers though.

Also for me, I've been running 442,442,none,mec from first card to last.
What is plugged in where has made a difference for many in the past.
I started this way and never had to change.

Eight. There were several systems this size a few years ago. The
only issue is IRQ conficts, but once those are ironed out, it works
just fine. We had 7 cards running here at one point, but I retired 2
as spares. Currently we have 5 cards in the magma chassis.

BT had 8 cards in his 13 slot Magma when I shot the vid. Dunno if that helps
you or not, but that is the max amount of EDS cards in any one rig.

Tyrone,
I'm running 4 x EDS cards in a 7 slod Avid branded Magma here. I got it from
chris. I think you old me you got yours from Chris too. You should be good
to go.
