Are you sure? I hope you're right, but all the research I've done has indicated
otherwise. PCI 2.2 wasn't invented until 98, and I am under the impression
that PCI 2.2 was the first standard including 3.3 volts. That means, as EDS
cards predate this standard, they are 5V.
According to the documentation I've found, PCI 2.2 and 2.3 are basically
the same, except PCI 2.3 doesn't supply 5V to the card. The docs all say
that 5V signalling is still supported though. I've found it a little confusing
to be honest, as I can't see the point in supporting 5V signalling if you
aren't supplying 5V to the card. They have also maintained the 5V connector,
so the EDS will fit into the slot I am certain, but I don't expect it will
work.
Having said that I'd be REALLY REALLY HAPPY if you told me with certainty
that I'm wrong about this. :o)

No, I know about them too. PCI 2.3 slots will FIT and EDS card, but they
wont supply 5V to it, so I don't *think* they will work in the slot. I don't
imagine it would damage them though. I haven't tested it though so I don't
know for sure, and haven't found anybody who has tested it.
I'd be extremely happy if I'm wrong about this. It would certainly increase
the number of mobo's I can cho
