I've got a couple of RNC's here that I'm thinking about letting go. They are
in a Mercenary rack and I have been interfacing them with an Underscore
Electronics ISO Brick. This is a 1u rackmount box with 8 x 1:1 balancing
transformer input/outups. 4 x of them are originals and I was told by
someone years ago when I bought this that these are similar to Sowters.
whatever they are, they do add some nice *iron*. I may have and extra one
here that I can take a picture of. The other 4 are Jensen JT11's. when
patched in to the transformers, the RNC's can get pretty colorful when used
in normal mode or when used in RN mode, they are still transparent, but with
a bit of *trannysound*.
The reason that 4 of these are Jensens is that the unit was damaged in
shipping to me and two of the original trannys were torn loose from the
chassis. I called Jensen to see about repair and they said they had taken
over the servicing of these old boxes for the former owner of the company
who becam ill and had to close down. They did the repair and I really like
having choices of transformers for the different channels.
I'll have a Neve stereo comp in here early next week and I'll be checking it
out. If it does what I'm hoping, I *may* go ahead and decide to sell the
RNC's along with the balancing transformers. This does add some
*specialness* to something that is already *neally nice*.
If this is something any of you might be interested in, I'm thinking that
the $800.00 range is probably what I'll want.
