Happy Sunday to you all.,
DJ and others, haven't you all been following the Vista OS post here? Those
of us on the PC (Windoze) side of personal computing are at a cross road.
-If you run a Steinberg DAW, then there are first issues with Multi core
(4) processors taking advantage of all of that power.
-Win Xp (32/64) is not giving you anything as far as performance. Nothing
to write home about.
-Ms Vista is a ways off from being what pro audio needs it to be.
All in all, it's time to stay pat until the above issues are worked out.
OR
-Explore the Apple route and give Logic Studio a try.
-Stay with windows, and give Digidesign a shot with version 7.4.
Myself, I'm good where I am. My DAW's can achieve more tracks than I can
use with plugins galore..
Until, something comes along that's truly revolutionary for what I do, then
I'll bite. But, until then, Paris, Nuendo, & Pro Tools, Acid Pro, Alesis
HD24 & Reasons are the tools that are getting the job(s) done ..

Having said that: I'm really leaning towards Digi's new C24 controller. Along
with any of their software versions, amkes for a killer package. And, mos
importantly, it will attrack potential customers with it's professional looks.
I for one, prefer a controller that's "tighly" integrated with it's Software,
like Paris & C16..
Another is the secret from Euphonix. Their supposed to have a more affordable
controller. It works like the MC-5 setup,and in the 8,910k range, that could
be what all of the Nuendo/Cubase/Logic uses have wanted for along time.
Yet another hot controlelr option is the Tascam DM-4800 . This baby is picking
up all kinds of steam in our market. Since the demise of Mackies DXB, Tascam
is one of the only (Yamaha) who's has a very attractive product that's DAW
friendly: Firewire,Cascadable, decent pres (24) , Talk Back setup..DAw conroller
(Steinys,Logic, ProTool, Sonar, DP)..for a price thats not insulting (under
5k).
I have learned that a big mixer, or big time looking Daw controllers gets
you more business then a Star-Ship Enterprise looking setup. .
Another 2008 option, is the Tascam DM-4800 mixer.
