I remember him well, but I never saw him sit. I had a long talk with him on
the first day at AES that year. I distinctly remember talking to him about
Roger Nichol’s WENDEL, which was the only thing that could do any non-tape
sampling at the time. He replied with a very French scoff. Very interested
in talking about the technology, and immaculately dressed as I recall. I
dragged a few studio owners over to his small booth during that show, including
Ann, from House of Music, who picked up one of the first units, so I got
to play with it a lot.
Steve Dwork was the only NY (US) repair tech for the Inf. I think he is still

PS I do remember him singing through the unit and getting strange harmonies
and double sounds out of it, but I can’t remember what song he kept singing
over and over. I think it was a French classic like "Fara Jacka". The reverbin
it was also nice.
