Hello everyone,
Dont know if there is specialist around with experience with
Paris 3.0 under Mac OS 9.2.2 and a dual VGA monitor setup,
Here is my issue I have been trying to add a second video
card to my G4 setup so that I can connect two VGA monitors,
the whole thing works if I dont have my Magma 7 X PCI chassis
hooked up to it (which has my 4 EDS cards in it),
when I add the Magma chassis Mac OS gives a system bomb error about "could not load ressources etc..." when trying to load the extensions, if I only disconnect the second display from the VGA port it all works ok with the Magma,
Ive tried every single setup as far as switching PCI cards from
the G4, I even put the PCI Ati video card in the Magma chassis
and the same results, sometimes it will boot ok but as soon as
Paris is loading and when it gets to synchronizing it just freezes.
I have a Mac G4 466 mhz Digital Audio with internal AGP ATI 16mb graphics card. I added a PCI ATI 16mb card in the G4 for the second monitor (even tried it in the Magma chassis same issue).
If I boot with all extensions off it all works ok as far a dual displaying and loading Paris,
Any hints or ideas would be appreciated,
Thanks,
MFO

I had similar problems running 2 video cards on a G4 Quicksilver 733. I could get it to run with 2 EDS cards plugged into the MoBo, but only if I put the ATI PCI card in the slot furthest away from the AGP card. The G4 would not "see" a third EDS card with the ATI PCI installed.
I bought more EDS cards thinking some of them must be faulty, and then a Magna 7-slot chassis and still had conflicts. The PCI slots just didn't seem to handle sharing the data buss with video cards and EDS cards.
I managed to get a stable rig by ditching the ATI PCI card and getting an ATI 7000 dual VGA monitor AGP card on Ebay.
I had to install new drivers which the seller included on a CD.
Having said all that, another possible cause of some of your problems may be a conflict between your motherboard and OS9.2.2 because the Digital Audio G4's had an earlier board architecture.
According to some posts I've read on the Apple user forums, the DA G4's have some quirks that can cause this kind of problem.
It would be worth having a search on the Apple user forums if you haven't already done so.
