RealVNC has some security issues.
OSX has a vnc server built in.
On the client side:
For Windoze machines, I use TightVNC client
For my MacBook Pro, I use Chicken of the VNC
Both work very well.
If you're vnc'ing in from windows into Mac, you'll have to remember
that the keyboards are different and use the "alt" key instead of the
squiggle key and remember that "backspace = delete". Once you map
your brain for the differences, works like a champ. I have my
Quicksilver on 24/7, with a static IP address, and my router set up
for port forwarding. I picked a ridiculously high, random port
instead of the default 5300 to thwart port scanners. I also registered
a DDNS domain with dyndns.com pointed to my DSL address (it's pretty
stable, plus my router can sense changes and will notify dyndns.com)
I can vnc in and check my email and IM from any computer that will
allow me to run an executable.
Oh, yeah - TightVNC (Also UltraVNC) viewer is a standalone executable.
Nice.
