I would like to post the alternative to bus compressing using Paris eds compressor.
I combined some users tips here...
You use aux 1 as a stereo feed to eds stereo compressor.
You use the aux as pre and mute every drumtrack.
Now using the aux pan pot you send the drumtracks to the stereo field as
needed.
You open a eds compressor with 1.20 ratio 8 (yes only 8) release attack about
12 o'clock predelay 3 (if you want you can nudge all drumtracks 3 ms to the
left) threshold -96 and output like 4-5 db.
Now these will be the compressed only drums.
Now on aux 2 stereo again pre again yiou use the same aux settings and you
put on aux 2 same eds compressor with same predelay BUT with no threshold
and no ratio as to have the dry only signal.
Thus with aux1 you control the compressed drummix only and with aux2 the
dry drums.
Happy new Year.

How do you control the level of eachindividual instrument?
With the send pot on the channel?

Glad you like it...
Yes the aux 1 send is your indivindual drum level for compressed (squashed)
drums and aux2 for dry.
The latency is the same so no phasing here !
There is 2 samples just for using aux and eds compressor gets loaded twice
so no difference in latency here at all.

Dimitrios

Dimitrios it's simple it's silly. The only problem is we can't automate
using this type of routing. Sometimes that's necessary.

Dear Tom,
Regarding automation what exactly would you like to automate in this situation
?
You cann always run a wire out from after the aux1 and wire in on a paris
channel and automate from there.
Same for aux2.
I never care about automation much...
Regards,
Dimitrios

actually, I think you can. visit analogx.com and look in the paris =
section. he has an applet there that will midi automate the mini mixer, =
but there are a few catches and I don't know for sure it runs with Ver =
3.0... my catch on this is the FX and how to get your EDS stuff =
happening using auxes to mix. You can do a surround mix also using =
auxes, it's just a pain.=20

Dimitrios it's simple it's silly. The only problem is we can't =
automate
using this type of routing. Sometimes that's necessary.
