Howdy!

I'm back in the saddle after some serious illness issues again.

Had some problems with my Paris installation, decided I needed to reinstall.
But my Paris CD-ROM is shot. It's not my burner/player, I've tried other
CDs. I guess I should have backed it up. I'm a dummy, big time.

Any ideas?

BTW, what the heck is a Reaper?
Jimmy

Heya Jimmy - this is Reaper - http://www.reaper.fm/

It's a fast, lean, mean DAW that's rewriting the book on features vs price point - and whose developers are showing that they're happy to work cooperatively with the PARIS community when asked.

With the work Mike Audet's planning to do on the ASIO drivers, Reaper is fast shaping up to be the "must-have" companion DAW to PARIS. At $50 for a semi-pro license, it would be worth owning just for the .paf file conversion convenience we just got.

Have you tried to clean the CD for fingerprints etc.? Especially the inner
circle, where the information about what's on a CD is stored.

I got it. I don't know if it's the Paris CD is only playing in some players,
or my player only playing some CDs. At any rate, I put the CD in my wife's
new laptop and it came up just fine, so I copied the files to her desktop,
burned a new CD, and I'm good to go.

Thanks for all the input. I should have tried the work-around before I posted.
And yeah, I had tried cleaning the CD. Oh well, life's little mysteries.

Jimmy, I think it's time to clean the laser or to change the DVD/CD
rec/player. If it's for a PC, a new, good DVD/CD rec/play costs about 30$.

Reaper is Mac OSX too, and getting closer to feature-equivalent between platforms every day. There's no Mac OS9 version.

Reaper's a killer - I'm doing drum edits in it right now and it kicks Logic to the curb for that.
