What's the cheapest way to get a clear voice recorded into a sound blaster
live. I would recommend an 87 beta condenser mic but this is for a friend
and that would require him to spend > $200 on that plus a phantom power source.
He wants a desktop stand to go by his computer so he has computer noise
to deal with too. Any ideas.

What about a Rode Podcast or BLUE Snowball? USB interfaces on
both of 'em - does it HAVE to go in THROUGH the Soundblaster
itself?

Find a used Sennheiser 421. They are rediculously good at rejecting
everything off axis, and the multi position roll-off on the mic will
help taylor the voice when used up-close.
