>Hi,
That was touph.
You copy your drumtracks to the same EDS card.,
say you have your kick ,snare and stereo OH's.
So you copy these on empty tracks.
then you put the senderella on each of the first set of drumtracks and
redirect inside senderella so that the sending audiotrack does not output
any audio.
you nudge these tracks by 4096 samples forward using any method known if you
use Soinaudio wrapper for UAD1, if you use FXpansion you nudge for 16384
samples.
Then on your reciving audio tracks (you put empty audio file (24bit track)
just after the senderella audio tracks.
I mean if kick is 1 snare 2 OH's 3 & 4 then put the receiving senderella
track on channel 5 and just put the copies of 1,2,3&4 on 13,14,15,16
The remaining drumtracks could stay on 7,8,9,10,11,12 if you have that many.
So now the senderella return on 5 takes the LA2 UAD1 compressor and time
alligns with audio drumtracks 13,14,15&16 and as well with 7,8,9,10,11,12.
I have also a UAD1 but I would prefer using the Sonalksis which is 0 latency
so I don't have to copy and move, anyway here is a working solution

Dimitrios

e the Paris EDS card.
Martin...
Do the EFX sound good? Is part of the benefit you find that it
reduces CPU load as opposed to using Native plugin's in Nuendo?
Also, what about the summing... are you bringing stuff out of
Nuendo to sum in the 1820 (and if so, does it act/sound like
Paris in that regard)? And finally, are you using it on the same
computer as Nuendo?
NeilD, what's the default transfer...if you don't type anything?

excelsm@hotmail.comI love mine, too. My only problem was that ugly
brown shell they use. But a good drummer friend
of mine who paints custom cars painted it a cool
red with about 40 layers of subtle orange, copper and
yellow flames that appear and disappear as you move
around the drum... It even sounds better :)

I've probably got that many old fans laying around here, though I would need
a new PSU.

Nah... it'd be a hint of cotton, not leather - since that's what
nitrocellulose is a derived from.

the only other thing that I would want to add is a remark that I B.
Tankersley made at some point. He said something to extent of him playing
around with some Native Beta Version of Paris that Edmund had started
developing, and that he had concluded that the ensoniq hardware had much to
do with the great sound of paris. I'm pretty sure that I remember this
accurately, but I am not about to swear by this !!!

Greetings :)
Siwei Zou ( Soo-Way ) the founder of SE Mics has been hard at work in
the Lab. This time , its all about Ribbons.
As many of you may be aware - Ribbon mics have a very different response
than conventional condenser mics. As a result , Ribbons capture sounds
in a very different way . Many engineers and producers use Ribbon mics
on guitar amps, brass instruments , string overheads and a variety of
situations where High Frequencies tend to be to brittle using
conventional mics. Distorted guitar is one of the best examples. Quite
often one tends to EQ the heck out of the track causing untold Phase
damage rendering it unable to sit well in any mix. Using a Ribbon is
prefect in this situation , the mic captures the sound naturally -
thus allowing the guitar to sit perfectly well in the mix without any
nastiness or brittle high end trash that one usually expects.
A brief overview of Ribbons - RCA was known for developing some of the
most popular Ribbon Mics the RCA 77DX and RCA 74B.
The vintage ribbon mics are Dynamic and use a 6 micron membrane, and
there are a number of low end mics that also use 6 micron. Developments
in the last 10 years have allowed thinner diaphragms to be practical to
produce and the newer more expensive ribbon mice have diaphragms ranging
from 3 microns to 1.8 (about the current limit). The thinner diaphragms
offer better impedance matching and superior high frequency response.
The inexpensive Ribbon mics often to have a higher impedance which this
does tends to make them low in output , a significant drop off in High
Frequency,a bit noisy and quite sensitive to cable
length and load from a preamp. Finding an optimal combination can be a
challenge.
The most popular Ribbon mic presently has been the Royer 2.5 Micron
membrane Model R-121.
We have measured the impedance to be @ 470 ohms (as opposed to the
published 300 Ohms)
These mics sell for Approx $1200 each
http://www.royerlabs.com/r_121.html
SE has used Royer among many others as a benchmark. In doing so, They
started out with a
6 micron Membrane Dynamic with the Clear goal of doing everything
Better than the rest.
Better High Frequency response, Higher output, Lower noise and Lower
impedance - 200 Ohms to be precise.
I Have Wave files recorded of the 6 micron prototype and 2 micron final
production model that I can email and or post.
SE managed to completely knock the Ball out of the park with this. And
in doing so , they have perfected the process
of making Ribbon Membranes better than any competitor. More on this
amazing new process to follow.
They did not stop here , Even through they got the 6 micron to have very
good performance they decided utilizing the 2 micron ribbon just put the
performance over the top and went with it for this new amazing mic.
The All New SE R-1 completely smokes the Royer as well as all others and
here is the best part.
At half the price !!
The New SE has a list price of $ 749 and streets out @ $ 599
The special (St. Peter ) PARIS Pre-Launch group buy is $ 568.88
Included with this mic is a Planet waves Premium 20ft Mic Cable, Deluxe
Road case and shockmount.
We will be able to deliver these in the first week of October - Reserve
yours NOW !
As with all SE mics - there is a 7 day NO RISK full refund Guarantee !!
These Mics will Premier @ AES in a few weeks - My prediction is these
R-1's will be one of the Hottest
Items at the Show. You heard it here FIRST !

Haven't bought one yet. The EDS plugin that Chuck created (can't recall the
name)
can create a similar effect w/ a 50 Hz tone mixed in w/ the kick... Also can be
tuned
to the key of the song!

I know that anyhow EDStransfering or not EDS cards run hot so to be on the
safe side it is better to add those little chip coolers.
I guess those Ensoniq chips are the candidates here...

------=_NextPart_000_0056_01C5C06B.1F9E7840--Here are my big questions. Are you sure you want to buy another product
from EMU?????? A company that has a history of canceling products with out
notice, with out an upgrade path, and just drop support cold????? Lie to
their customers!!!!!!!!!! Lie to there dealers!!!!!!!!!!! All to make a
buck!!!!!!!!!! Are you sure you want to invest in to another piece of PCI
hardware, when there are other choices out there? This system is limited
in its expandability! Are you sure it sounds that good?
Are you sure you want to reward a company that has screwed us all over, by
making them richer, by buying another product from them???????????????????
These guy should have been sued!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's the one on the right; )Cant tell you the answer to that one Neil.
Most programs will not let you access more than one card, unless from the
same manufacturer, and then, only some cards that are identical.
I guess there is no reason why the effects can't be used though.

w. Pro-tools, kinda like Sony's Betamax VCR lost the war
to VHS. The 'better' formats lost--and investment stopped...but you're right,
those who spent the $$$ should not
have been abandoned by Emu. Maybe Creative just wanted Paris
so they could steal some of the great A/D converter stuff for
Audigy!
I'm also considering the portable convenience of a Tascam 2488,
tho' pretty sure it won't sound as good Paris.
Thanks,
Kim

AAThe 1820 is a good sounding card esp. for the money. The drivers may not be
quite in league with RME and Lynx, but I installed a couple in A/V media
systems and never had a problem for that use. They would do quite well with
a $500+ 8-channel ADDA unit using those converters.
If you are looking for a DAW alternative to Paris, there are quite a few
great options.
