Strange. I decided to restore my Paris computer since I was getting many
lockups along with weird happenings while using my studio. I started from
scratch (windows 2000) and got everything installed and up and running.
However, I didn't adjust the system.ini or the paris.cfg yet, but started
using the system with current projects. All was fine except; when I completed
recording a track, I immediately hit rewind. I sometimes get a alloc error
if I hit the rewind too fast [must hit stop, wait a few, then rewind]. So
I change the system.ini to reflect:
[VCache]
MinFileCache=51200
MaxFileCache=56320
and I changed the paris.cfg to reflect the i/o size to 256. I reboot and
now when I close Paris, it locks up, forcing me to turn off the computer
manually. Anyone had this same problem? I am gonna go back to the old settings
in the system.ini and try that, but was wondering if those numbers are too
high. Btw, this is the first I restored my Paris system for quite a few
years. I am getting tired of these sporadic lock ups or alloc errors and
I was hoping to find the culprit. I am on a dual Pent III (1 Gig), Win2000
and one EDS only, 768 RAM, lots of harddrive space.
