And this is not a racist comment. It's a comment based on seeing too
many kids dressed like drug dealers and gang bangers, listening to
music that promotes violence against damn near everyone, prostitution,
and drug use.

Maybe kids & young adults are just tired of watching MTV &
having to hear that half the lyric in each rap song consist of a
single word: "<beep>". lol

Basically I agree.
I am not a big fan of rap and I am not at all happy with the negative effect
the hip-hop culture has had….but….remember who is doing the reporting here
- Fox News.
The following info is from the “Nielsen Music 2006 Year-End Music Industry
Report.”
I wouldn’t be too quick to cry over the poor record companies just yet.
It is true that album sales for rap were down in 2006 about 20% from an all
time high in 2004. But digital sales (downloads) were considerably higher,
and the total dollars were about the same in 2006 – an all-time high!
Justin Timberlake's "Sexyback" and Beyonce's "Irreplaceable" were among industry
leaders.
Rap and R&B combined (the report does not break out hip-hop, but most of
the R&B numbers are in fact hip-hop), are the biggest sellers killing the
combined sales of Country, Classical, Jazz and Metal. This is in the down
year.
Year End Factoids:
Overall music purchases in 2006 exceeded the 1 Billion sales plateau for
the
second consecutive year; 1.2 billion (2006) vs. 1 billion (2005).
The last two weeks of 2006, music sales exceeded 47.4 million (week ending
12-
24) and 45.0 million (week ending 12/31), representing the 2 biggest weeks
in the
history of Nielsen SoundScan. The previous record was Christmas week 2005
with 44.7 million music purchases.
More than 580 million digital tracks were purchased during 2006; an increase
of
65% over 2005.
In the final reporting week of 2006 (12/25/06 – 12/31/06) the following sales
records were broken:
-- Digital track sales blew away the previous sales record with

Gene,
As far as Fox news is concerned, it's just part of the partisan, agenda
driven circus. It doesn't even come close to the arrogance of a news service
that deigns itself to spoonfeed us "all the news that's fit to print", as if
we should bow down to their judgmental largesse as far as what is "fit ot
print". There isn't an objective press anymore IMHO..hasn't been for 40
years......... so to get the whole picture, I think it's best to watch all
news sources.
