New Music Computer Recommendation needed [message #64312]

I'm in the process of building a new computer, and am in desperate need of
some recomendations. I'm was thinking about going AMD Opteron as a CPU, but
am unsure if the money would be well spent. Would there be any noticeable
differences between the 200 and the 800 series? I'm probably going to go
with a single cpu, perhaps a dual core. The whole thing is becoming very
confusing. Anybody out there have suggestions? Price isn't too much of an
issue, but not total out there.
