Yo mac users, I'm asking on behalf of a buddy of mine that's getting some
latency problems with this rig.

It's a Powerbook (whatever the biggest/newest/fastest one is), using Digital
Performer with an Apogee Ensemble interface.

He is getting latency problems when playing back/overdubbing a project with
16 to 20 tracks. I think they've played around with a buffer and it has
helped, but I thought I'd ask the group and see if anyone knows some things
that could be checked and/or if this rig should run smoother than this. I
would think so, but then again, I am pretty spoiled with Paris.

thanks!,

do they have monitor through software enabled? this can cause latency
especially with fx on channels or the mains. i should state that this
is what will happen with logic...i have dp but don't use it much
anymore.
another Q. how many tracks are the templates set for as dp sees them
as active even if they're not.
