Waves Renaissence Compressor used to be my "go to" compressor on PARIS/Mac.

Problem with OS9 and free plugs is the number of great free plugs that
had been written by the time OS9 was discontinued wasn't huge.

However:

Blockfish, part of the FishFillets package, was released for OS9, and
it's very good.

I love Modern plugins. I love the Harmonic distortion they impart.
