Im wondering if anyone can tell me what the latest PC mother board is that
Paris will run on with XP and any optimal computer configuration you may
be aware of. (drive, memory, chip set etc.) I have a DELL 8400 thats about
3 years old (Pentium III) I am aware of the "Making PARIS freaking fly on
Windows XP" page and the driver disclaimers but did not see any information
on the latest computers it will work on.
I'm pulling my Paris MEC out of moth balls and I want to build it up to run
with 2 or 3 EDS 1000's, 3 - 8 channel input cards and 1 or 2 8 channel output
cards depending on what will actually work well enough. Currently it's set
up an a MAC G3 but I get the idea that it would run better on XP. I'm reading
allot of good things in the Paris Users group, it sounds like Paris is bullet
proof on XP when everything is installed and set up right so I'm excited
to get going on it. I became disillusioned with Paris when Ensoniq disappeared
but it's starting to sound like a very viable solution when trying to avoid
a Pro Tools up grade.
One thing that I wonder about is what you all think about sampling at 44.1
or 48k, is every one pretty happy with that? Do you think it's a big deal
not being able to record at higher sample rates? I still think Paris sounds
great but it would be nice to have the option of a higher sample rate.
Any answers to these questions or any other pertinent information information
concerning building this system would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks allot,
Michael
