Dang, I didn't notice that... that IS pretty cool!
Anyone ever use MOTU pres? Are they decent?

Well, like I said, the pre's on my 828MkII are decent. They're not Gracie,
True Systems or Great River clean, but they're not junk either. Currently, I
use them for my drum overheads, percussion, acoustic guitar, etc. I don't
have a large collection of pre's and the others I have are all more
"coloring". Assuming the pre's in this unit are at least equal or better,
I'd say they be fine for a general, neutral sound. I have heard that MOTU
was using some marketing hype and might be padding their gain specs, so you
might want to investigate that if you want to use this pre with ribbon or
other low output mics. I've never had any gain problems with my 828, but I'm
only using the standard dynamic and condenser mics.

The preamps on my MOTU 828MII seem clean and reasonably transparent.
Also, the box has been very dependable and MOTU's driver updates for my
system (MacOSX) have been timely. Recommended.

Wow...what a coincedence you guys are talking about this.
I am trying to work a trade with Morgan on one right now.
I saw the ad for the 8pre on MIX Magazine.
Looks great for my needs.
The 8 ADAT lightpipe outs should interface
with the PARIS ADAT card correct?
I am just looking for more mic pres for drumset micing, etc..
