I'm looking for my deer rifle just in case he shows up around here. We have
a lot of bluegrass players in this area that might tempt him.

Funny, Dave is starting to look a LOT like Pat Boone...

Dave may as well go out and perform Opera. He has as much chance
of pulling that off as he does bleugrass.

The pisser is that you will likely never see Del McCoury on one of
these shows.

Oh, and Del could actually pull off a Bluegrass version of that tune...

Man, I saw him at the Georgia Theater here in Athens a few years back. Whew,
Jeebus, I ain't never cheered that loud in my life. Amazing. And gracious
people, too. Best sort of folk.

This is ridiculous, but it's no more ridiculous than Pat Boon doing a Metal
album. Bon jovi and Brett Michaels doing country, is also lame.

It's funny and sad at the same time, this guy used to sell out arenas.
In his book Crazy From The Heat, he tells what really happened with VH and
the reunion. He also talks about how he is constantly recording all different
genres of music with people from all genres of music, from country, blues,
jazz to motown, etc. That book is an interesting read, and a few good laughs.

It's too bad he hasn't been able to do much with his records since VH days,
because some of the stuff is great. The DLR Band record has some rippin
tunes on it. There is some really great playing on it.

Thanks for the pop culture update, DJ-

I am not a bluegrass fan at all, but man, that song was...
beautiful. Joyous, great musicianship. Wow.

But DLR was so weird. He looked and sounded desperate,
kind of like Jim Carrey on a bad day.

If someone else was singing, I would check it out for sure.
The thing they did with the old synth lick was just awesome.

I'll try to connect the dots. David Lee Roth has had many interests including
martial arts, where he has competed internationally. He has also had interests
in different genres of music, that is one of many reasons he is no longer
in VH, according the Eddie and Alex VH.

Because of musicians having the same manager, agents, A&R guys, etc., it
creates a circle of musicians that wonder in to other things.

DLR Pick two local Detroit Jazz/fusion cats Gregg and Matt Bissonette, to
play in his solo bands. Gregg Bissonette prior to playing with DLR he played
with Maynard Ferguson, The Austin/Moro Band, Gino Vannelli, and Joe Vannelli.

Billy Sheehan, on bass, later replaced with Matt Bissonette. Matt played
with his brother Greg in the above mentioned bands.

Gregg Bissonette since DLR has played with many artists, some included, Ringo
Starr, James Taylor, Joe Satriani, ELO, Santana, Brian Wilson, and The Pat
Boon Heavy Metal Big Band.

Another Detroit guy DLR worked with is John Lowery. John played on the DLR
Band CD. That CD is the closes thing to old VH, and John also kicks some
butt. John Lowery has played with rock metal artist, DLR, Rob Halford, Randy
Castillo (ozzy's drummer) Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie but he's also in
to Blue Grass and Country. He worked with KD Lang, and he talks about his
Blue Grass projects in his BIO. Here is the blue Grass connection: http://www.john-5.com/home.php

I'm thinking John got Dave in to Blue Grass or the other way around.

I've got to say, the video is still strange, it's just not a good fit.

This new record STRUMMIN' WITH THE DEVIL, is just killing me, I'm in shock
and I don't think I'll ever be the same!!!

I think this is the biggest slam on Van Halen, that Dave could come up with.
This has to be a joke, right? Talk about a kick in the balls.

As a big, Van Halen fan, it's just painful!
