Are there any other Mac guys using the UAD-1 plugins? I'm getting weird noises
- clicks and pops and loud fog-horn-like noises when I use the UAD-1 plugins.
It seems like I'm OK if I only use them on 4, maybe 5 tracks, but if my
usage meter gets up over 40% - 50% the strangeness begins. I have two cards,
so I would think I'd be able to run more plugins without problems. The UA
guys won't even try to help me once they find out I'm running Paris in OS
9! I tried re-installing Paris and the UAD-1 3.9 drivers withg no luck...
I may try re-installing OS 9.

I'm also having more crashes than usual, but I don't know that I can attribute
them to UAD-1 issues.

The noise could be a power supply issue, I'm not sure.

If your having crashes, allocate more memory to the programs. That is usually
the first thing everybody forgets to do. I hope that helps.

Hi James,

Thanks for your responses to my questions... I have 1 gig of memory assigned
to Paris. Don't the plugins get their memory from Paris? Is 1 gig too much?

I think if you move back to version 3.7 your problems
will go away. They did for me.
cheers,

I know that v4.0 would not run on Win 9x. v3.9 was the last version that
will work with Paris on Win ME. Perhaps the same thing happened with UAD-1
software and Mac OS9 and everything after v3.7 needs OSX?

I know that some people said that they had some problems when they had too
much memory allocated to paris, but I haven't had any problems. You could
always try adjusting it though. Did you add any memory recently? Some times
that will mess things up.

You might try moving the UAD-1 cards around. I think they are suppose to
be in the number 1 and number 2 PCI slots. Don't quote me on that; )

Hmmm... I don't know which slots they're in. My first card was in my Magma
13 slot expander for a while (not slot 1...) and after being fine for a while
it stopped working. I put it in the G4 and it began working again and when
I bought a second card I put it in the computer too, but I don't know which
slots. I'll look!

Thanks,

gantt

I just had a guy at UA tell me that I need v3.9 in order for my trial runs
to work, so I upgradeed from v3.8. v3.9 is the last to work w Mac OS 9.

When I tried 3.9 I could no longer render FX to disk, so I'm back to 3.8

Yes I did have problems, including UA not wanting to
help me. So I moved back to 3.7 and everything seems
fine. I should say I am using only one card.
I hope you get it sorted out.
