you want a standard CAT5e cable, do NOT get a crossover cable. Smoke will
emit, you'll get to feel like Deej for a few moments.

Yes, those cables will work.

Using a crossover cable is almost as much fun as firing up a motherboard
with a CPU in the socket but no heatsink.........and it fries about as
fast...........maybe a little quicker.....but what's a few
nanoseconds???.You couldn't even hear phasing at that latency if you were to
record them frying side-by -side.

Or don't check to see if the pinouts on the mobo of a sampler matches the
pinouts on the hard drive you're installing. After reading in the manual
that third party drives were a no-no. 'What do they know! Thieves! They just
want to charge me 3X for the drive. I'll show them, I'll just put this fancy
new drive in here anyway . . . What's that smell?'

Hmmm sounds like an EMU sampler... If I recall correctly, they
reversed two of the power wires.

With great befuddlement,
I recall telling the guy at the local computer shop..

"But I only turned it on for a few seconds..."

He looked down and smiled and said "I think we have
a replacement CPU *and* fan in stock for that".
