Maybe some of you have already experienced this, but I haven't.

My UAD-1 card that I purchased in 2003 went South last week,
disappearing from the UAD Meter config (though it still showed up
in Apple System Profiler). I called tech support, described the
problem, and asked what I could do. They told me the card needed
to be replaced.

How much? Nothing. No cost.

I picked up a new one from the Canadian Distributor here in Toronto today
and installed it, re-authorized the plugins (plus got a few new extra ones
'cause the card is a newer configuration)and away we go.

Very nice that a piece of Computer gear has a lifetime
warranty, and I get an upgrade for free 5 years later.

Sorry Aaron and Ted.

Has this already been discussed?

Or did my question show up in one of Ted's other threads for those
reading on the web site?

I get the group as a newsgroup in my email reader and it's a separate
heading here.

Anyway, on the question of "should radio stations pay performance
rights" it seems to me they should. If internet radio has to pay for
content, why not terrestrial radio?

Cheers,
-Jamie

I was under the impression that all radio stations paid royalties (or a fee)
to PROs...you mean I've been wrong all this time?

Well in that case yes, and let's make it retroactive

:-)

Currently, songwriters and publishers are paid royalties, but the
performers get nothing.

Well, here in Australia, at least, Radio stations pay a yearly "blanket" fee
for the rights to play music.
They don't pay per performance.
In my days in radio, (early 70's), we had to log all tracks played, (well
before computer anything), and a monthly sample was averaged out over the
year, and that's what we paid.
Don't think it's like that any more, I think it's just a one off fee...
