Aaron,
I'm no expert but I would think following the Creamware path regarding =
processors and chipsets may also prove stable for Paris.

This is what Gary (Creamware expert/user/salesman) suggested to me for =
Creamware use:

"as to the computer, i would personally use an intel conroe processor =
with an intel d965ryck motherboard or a p4 with an intel d865perl. i =
know both setups are rock solid, cheap and offer excellent performance."

I got an AMD dual core by Chris L.'s suggestion. This was to keep the =
cost down and the ability to run
ridiculous amounts of Kontakt voices while sharing the PCI bus with a =
Creamware 14 chip card. I guess
the ATI chipset is no bargain for the PCI bus and the Lan throughput =
compared to the Conroe/Intel above.
I haven't looked all that closely at it but you should if you have the =
time and money.
Inexpensively yours,
Tom

Hi Aaron,
Current Core2 and Quad Core ready chip sets would be the 965 and 975
versions only.

I built a new machine recently. Intel D975XBX board. I was going to use it
for video editing .If the quad cores are priced within reach i will drop one
in and use it for audio as well. It has a D940 in it at the moment.
With the limited testing done so far I can say it smokes my dual opteron
system. It has all the SSE instruction sets. Some programs wont run without
them.Its a no brainer IMHO.

1066FSB,use either ECC or non ECC DDR2,4- sata 2(3G/sec),4 sata 1(1,5g/sec)
1-eide, 2 floppy 8-usb 2. the only negative on this board is there are only
2 pci slots. You can run it in raid but why bother with 3 gigs a sec?
Hopefully magma will get the PCI express controller working right .
I think it is a great board , for this month anyway.
I dont have a clue about paris running on it .didnt try it , dont need it.

For those interested (I'm sure Chris doesn't need to be, but anyway) tomshardware.com
has a recent review of four 975 chipset boards. They're only lukewarm on
them in general, finding marginal performance gains for a lot more money,
but they're there. Surprisingly they chose the MSI offering as their #1,
when DFI and ASUS have been kind of owning the tomshardware world for a while.
Maybe MSI is getting their act together a bit. I'll say this, I ran an MSI
440BX machine from being my bending end, overclocked audio box, down to hosting
my PARIS rig on a combined native/DSP system, then on to general office duty,
and finally as my DSL firewall/router. It never died but when I finally killed
it the power supply fan wasn't working and there was about 1/4 inch of dust
all over the thing but it still ran.

Hey,

I used the MSI BXMaster for years actually still have it and and it
works. Over clocked from 600 to 800mhz.

Currently using an ASUS board with 2.66mhz Quad-Core. :)
We get engineering samples from Intel and AMD.
Its nice being able to run projects at a 48k buffer that I couldn't run
at 256 before.
