if you are running your Pulsar on win XP (and I assume you are), go to
Device Manager and double click on your Pulsar card, then choose the
"Settings' tab. Is your Pulsar card set to a preferred bitrate of 16....with
no option to switch to 24 bit?

If this is a "feature" that can't be altered, I'm getting ready to manifest
my existence in the middle of someone's face..........soon.

Thanks,
Deej

Hey Deej,

It's the same for me but I'm 99.99% sure it means nothing. I think that setting
is just for gamer cards and what not. Still, I haven't recorded anything
through the Pulsar yet so I can't check for sure. When I do I'll look to
see if there are actually 24 bit words being recorded, but I don't think
there's anything to worry about.

Hey Thad. Tempest in a teapot, it seems. Looks like it's just a Windows
kinda' thing as far as what the driver properties display. The Pulsar should
be working at 24bit, if 24 bit is the bitrate of the record/playback audio
software.

I'm almost positive I've seen that with other high quality sound cards. It's
just stupid ol' Windows telling you more crap that doesn't matter.

It's
> just stupid ol' Windows telling you more crap that doesn't matter

In 1995 I had never used a computer, literally. A company I was working for
had developed a new Windows software program and they needed someone who
knew absolutely nothing about computers to train to prove how easy it was to
learn. I got the nod and within a week I was all over it. Unfortunately, I
also got a peek under the hood of Win 95 and a couple of days later I had
completely hosed a perfectly good computer by trying to rip all of the crap
out of the OS that offended my sensibilities..........and you know the rest
of the story.....
