I'm starting to get my head around this stuff a little bit. I think when
they come in for the next weekend I'll have this project pretty together.

Sonds pretty cool over the PC speakers, Deej - is a bit
Pretenders-like, albeit with a bit more restricted vocal range.
What'd u end up using for the signal chain on the lead vox?

Haven't cut the vocal OD's yet. That's just the scratch track..........a '58
into a Demeter HM-1 preamp with drum kit bleed all over it. I processed it
with a UAD-1 Neve 88RS channel strip and dialed up all the air I could
before it started screaming for mercy. Not sure what we're going to use for
the vocal path yet. I just snagged a Milennia Origin SST-1 over on the 3dB
forum. It will be here next Thursday. I used one years ago when the first
came out with my SPA U87 and it was a sweet combo on femme vocal with the
tube preamp circuit and transformer switched into the signal path. Dubs are
a week from Sunday so I think that will be on the menu. Also, the Peluso
2247, or SE Gemini paired with the Focusrite RED7 is turning out to be a
nice sounding signal path on sources with fast transients. The RED has a
fast VCA circuit, but it's not a "life sucker" and the tubularity of those
mics plays nice with the solid state preamp circuit. The Forssell CS-1
sounds good with just about any mic (seriously). The other day I tried it
with a Manley Baby Blue and it was a "holyshit" moment.....so we'll probably
check that out too, though it's a bit of an aggressive sounding mic. I used
a stereo pair of the Manleys on the drum OH's for this session.. Wouldn't
surprise me though if we dust off the '58 again and just use it. Nothin
wrong with a '58 and a Mackie, IMO. If it works, it works.

I feel like the low end is not quite kiciking ass..Like too much compression
or something. The kick could uses some more attack perhaps. I think the rythm
guitar (clean one) could come up too. I'd find room for some percussion.
(hand claps?)

Well, Sid never really even played on Pistols recordings of merrit..Anyway..The
Pistols are only one punk band. Claps are on lots of stuff. But actually
I think Anarchy has claps.Yeah, I think during or after the solo. Anyway..I
think this tune your working on is more "Alternative" than punk. (although
I hate that term) punk itself was not one real style more of a mind set..Oh
I think Iggy's now I wanna Be Your Dog has claps no?

I think it's more of a Retro New-Wave thing... i mean, like i
said earlier about it's got kind of a Pretenders sorta vibe,

Hehehe...But really, Glen Matlock was the real bass player for The Pistols,
Sid replaced him late for live...Image thing I guess.. Steve Jones reprtedly
playted all the bass part on Bollocks...

But really there are some amazing punk rock musicans..
