Hey guys using the sub kick,
What are you thinking about it?
Is it a ton better than using an LDC in the tunnel or a 15 in speaker?

Do tell do tell!

Or am I better off to eep savign my pennies for Dimitios' U47?

Works great for kick drum. Not quite as great on a bass cab. It just doesn't
have the freq range to pick up much of the harmonics above 1000KHz.

Hi Cujo-

I use an 8-inch woofer that I bought for 20 bucks. It is
impractical for live settings, but it is awesome in the
studio. If you only need it in the studio, just wire up
a speaker. Tip to positive, sleeve to negative, then through a DI-box and
right into your pre-amp.

As DJ says, it works much better for kick than for acoustic
bass.

peace,

Chris

I have the sub kik and a DIY speaker, and, at least for me the sub kik had
a better sound, although the DIY was good also. I suppose it would matter
what kind of speaker you used. I'm using sub kik now, and loving it. If you
want to DIY there is a thread on gearslutz that shows some mounting soultions.
I think it's on "High End" Mike Wagner's stand, made from Home Depot parts,
is especially cool, IMO

Took a look at the Gearslut thread and this apprears really simple to build.
Looks like people are using anthing from 15" to 6" speakers - any thoughts
on what the best size would be? Are you using this in with a something like
a D112 also? It should would help with the isolation and bleed...

Actually, I am have been talking with a metal working dude about building
a very cool stand for this, I have had the idea for a while, if anyone is
interested, let me know. I am meeting Monday with him to show him my plans.

Let me know what you find - I'm trying to determine what size speaker to
use - was thiking about a 10" or 12" but I'm reading about people using 6
and 8". Not sure what the best size would be... also seems the output is
pretty hot - almost at line level so is everyone using a pad or??

Thanks

My stand idea should work with different types of speakers. What I have done
was take a monitor wedge and plug it into a DI, it works, but I think the
12 inch may be a tad big.

On the few sites where there ar eDIY versions it seems 8" is the preferred
size.

For the speaker that is
