Hey guys, it seems that pafwavconvert has gone AWOL from Doug's site, and I didn't realize I only had the 98/ME version in my PARIS utilities backup folder. Can someone send me the XP version?

I can't get AutoTune 5 to work in PARIS at all (in either auto or graphical mode), so I'm importing the PAFs to Reaper (which works amazingly, btw) and 'Tuning them there. But Reaper can't output to .paf yet, so I'm stuck having to convert them externally to get them back in PARIS.

(I know I could just import them as .wav files in PARIS, but I'm trying to fool it into thinking they're still the original files so I don't have to re-edit them into the project.)

Thanks much!
Matt

Hey Rob, thanks for that - I didn't know wavelab did PAFs. I don't own it though, and it seems a bit much to pay $100-$550 for the program just to do the conversion, especially when there's a freely-distributable utility out there for that express purpose. Smile

Ooops, sorry about that. You can still get it from the old site, at least until June when my mac.com account expires. I'll make sure to have it on the new site by then...

Please contact me directly about stuff like that if possible. My email address is doug at paris faqs dot com...

Hey Doug, I didn't want to bother you directly, so I thought I'd put out a general request. Thanks for the link, though! I'm so glad PARIS has such a great community even after all these years...

Yeah, nobody bothered me directly about what happened when the newsgroup went away, so I thought the whole community had gone away...

There are a lot of the old community who didn't tag along...maybe we should contact them and let them know we're alive and kickin'

It's great to see you here, Doug!

This was never intended to be the successor to the NG. I'd set the forums up as a technical/development-focused add-on, sync'd to the NG with Kim's kind cooperation, about six months before his sudden departure for Europe took us all by surprise. We certainly never talked about me taking over, it was always assumed between us that the NG would continue focused on the community and this place focused on the platform.

When the NG didn't come back up after an extended absence I talked it over with a few folks and cobbled together an emergency "shoutlist" from whatever emails I could scavenge and sent out a heads-up so people could convene here while we waited to see what was up. I'd had you down as having been contacted, but had also heard you were very sick and really hesitated to pester you with PARIS stuff. Now I'm sorry I didn't follow up more diligently, and I'm sure glad you're here now!

Dang. Typed in a big message, then tried to preview it before posting. Got a message "post flood try again in 2 seconds" and the message was gone. Ugh, not liking FUDforum.

Any way to set up this forum so that we stay logged in and don't have to authenticate every time we visit? I'm really spoiled by PHPBB...
