Check out Lou Guarino's CD's. They are very nice sounding and quite interesting as well.
Irreplaceable by George Benson is an album you may also want to check out.
Irreplaceable was not received well by Benson's more traditional jazz fans, because it is primarily a Pop/R&B album that was directed at a much younger audience. It is an interesting listen however. The pop tracks were all recorded, edited and mixed in Paris. All ITB with help from a few nice pieces of hardware. These tracks were recorded at Joshua Thompson's Tallest Tree studios in NJ. (The latest large-scale studio that I have designed.)
Irreplaceable also has a number of jazz instrumental tracks. These were done by a different producer/engineering team in Pro Tools. These tracks were recorded in Avatar NY and some other very highly respected studios around the country.
All of the tracks sound pretty good, but It is very easy to hear the difference between the PT tracks and the Paris tracks. Which sound you prefer is obviously up to you.
Hope this helps.
Gene
