Has Anybody tried the CAD GXL1200 or the GXL 3000 mics? CG has a sale on
a studio pack with two of the GXL 1200s and one of the GXL 3000 for $99.99.
limited supplies. The list price is $379.00. This is either a great deal
or a wast of a hundred bucks.

They're made in China these days and knowing GC's purchasing policies, they
are probably culls from other retailers.

I haven’t worked with the CAD GXL1200 or the GXL 300. Both are considered
mid level as far as I know. Will GC offer a return option?
I have a VX-2 that is a world-class mic. I frequently pick it over Sony 800,
U47, C12 and other high-end mics. It’s very close to the Brauner Phantom
C, but even more open sounding.

Gene,
I have a VX2 also but find it doesn't work for everything.
It's never sounded good on a female voice for me.

Which capsule do you prefer?

Generally I like the big capsule.
I have had good luck with the small capsule - Neve 1084 / LA2A on female
vocals, but it is not always my first choice for females.

I had a female bkgnd group that I used the Cad for center in a MS with a
TLM170 for sides. That combination sounded great through a pair of Millennia
Origins.
