is wrong for not replacing the whole system. People in the mac community
have said for years to not jump on the latest hardware until it has been
proven in the field. The beige G3 was another example of that.

If you decide to go to tiger, put it on a test drive first and run it for
a few months before you commit. Tiger is still not ready. Safari, text
edit and GarageBand crash in tiger. I'm running Mozilla right now. I'm
going to reload Tiger and all the apps. to see if that helps. If not I'm
going back to Panther.
