he main server. NNTP
will come back up and we'll all be happy. :o) Job done.

While the changeover occurs I recommend you use the following link for newsgroup
access:

http://news.parisnewsgroup.com/cgi-bin/dnewsweb?utag=&wi ld=paris&cmd_grpsearch=Search&group=

The backup server isn't up to date in it's config, hence some links etc may
not work. Using the above link should allow access throughout the process
on either server. Remember that you could be half way through reading posts
when the change happens, in which case you may get some wierdness and have
to hit refresh in your browser to refresh the "Latest Items" list. Strange
things may also happen as far as your browser remembering which posts you've
read. Other strange things I haven't thought of may also happen. ;o)

At this stage the change is planned to start around 8am GMT on 11/11/05 (pending
confirmation that Doug W is cool with that time). It may take up to 48 hours
before the change is done, but we're hoping it will be more like 24 hour
turnaround or less. I'll probably do a survey on the group around 1am Nov
12 GMT to see if the change has propagated.

It's all very exciting. ;o)

Cheers,

TyroneHey,

Is there any difference between a retardedly expensive adat cable and a
regular computer 9 pin cable? Are the pin assignments the same?

jkDeej told me it was a plain old 9 pin...I'm sure either he or Dave will
correct me if I'm wrong

I am mastering some real bird sounds for a small cheap speaker toy
device.

After hearing untreated files through cheap speaker, some louder, high
pitch fast change sounds were distorting/peaking. So, right now I am
leveling the audio....reducing the dynamic range a little and EQing out
some harsh (4k- 7k) tweet tweets.

I know this is vague. I am just concered about audio over driving
cheap speaker.

eq range of speaker is 90hz - 12khz and it's a .5 watt speaker.
Speaker is about 1.5 - 2.0 inches in diameter.

other comments?

Thanks,

Craig........ka-kaaaaah (that's a text bird call)At first listen, i thought this plugin was pretty cool, but now
I'm also noticing clicks/pops with that plugin inserted...
anyone else getting this?

Using it on stereo interleaved files at 32-bit 88.2k.

Ah, it keeps me off the streets... ...not out of pubs though. ;o)

Cheers,
Kim.So folks,

the new version 3 of Melodyne is XP & OSX only. Provided I follow the PARIS
XP installations guide to a tee, do you guy think that a Soyo Firedragon,
1.8G P4, with 1G of ram, running two EDS cards with 1 MEC with two analog in
cards, with everything BUT Chuck's Eventiter plug, is going to run an XP set
up OK? Or, should I just stick with my basically rock solid WIN98 platform
and put together a second machine to run my Melodyne upgrade on? BTW, I
only overdub, edit and mix on this machine.... no big tracking sessions.

Thanks,

I had lunch with Damon in NYC today and I mentioned the clicks. This seems
to be a new issue. The manual is due out momentarily and it may cover some
restrictions (like no PC OS other than XP).
You should contact TriTone via the support forum if you continue to have
issues.
I insisted that I should be the first person to purchase ColorTone Pro -
and that they take particularly good care of Paris users.

ThanksHey Edna,

Sounds like something went awry with the install. I would
recommend removing and re-installing the software (cold boot
before re-install). Follow these instructions precisely:

http://homepage.mac.com/osxlover/ParisFAQs/parisonxp.html

Remember to re-boot after each step. The Beta XP driver and
FX Subsystem files are crucial to XP success, make sure you
download them.
