Thanks all. I've spent 9 years figuring out the tools I need and how to use
them (somewhat) proficiently. I'm still having second thoughts about the
frankenstein DAW situation. It's sort of daunting to wanl in there and have
to keep such an incredibly complicated routing matrix in mind all the time,
but I'm slowly but surely refining it to where it's second nature. To be
honest, it is taking me about 1/3 (or more) longer *per song* to mix
something just because of this, but I have the luxury of this time right now
because I'm mixing for *per unit* royalties on CD sales rather than by the
hour (and a pretty big chunk) so the incentive is there for me to give it
120%. So far, the last project I did this way has sold almost 500 units in
the last month so far and I'm getting $4.00 per unit.

Well, it's definitely an incentive to spend a little extra time and effort
on a mix if you subscribe to the idea that the better it sounds, the more
units it will sell, but whether or not that's true, I sometimes wonder.

Wow - nice setup... looks like you have the best of both worlds (hardware
/ software)
