Rick,
Thanks for the help Rick
Are you passing MTC through it or is that outside the box?
Do you use a separate MIDI box for Cubase to get to it or
do you leave the USB in while in use? Are able to get
MIDI input? I have to triple check my settings for that.
It shows 8 ins, 8 outs and the SMPTE in outs under my
list of MIDI ports. I assign the output of my master keyboard
to Cubase, engage record and yet no note data is present
when it's complete. ???
While hooked up via USB the box outputs data to everything fine.
I have to disconnect the USB to get my presets to function though.
Seems odd. Once the USB is disconnected then there's no=20
link to Cubase! =20
I'll try some more things,

it's been a few months since i've used sx but do you have all your
I/O's properly assigned? i'm also assuming you have the midi cables
connected to there proper port assignments. i have mine (4 version)
connected to both my mac and pc via a usb hub and also using midi
cables connected to the various gear (m24 controller and a pro 88 kb).

hey tom,
i use the same box for both the mac and the pc. from what i gather
you're doing more than i am with the midi. i just have the one
controller (pro 88) that i use in both logic and sx for the vstis and
the m24 for logic though it can be used for either.
have you loaded in the sampler data crap...sorry i'm not at the puter
now and i don't remember the what the option label is to add specific
hardware for recognition.
" assign the output of my master keyboard>to Cubase, engage record and
yet no note data is present when it's complete.???"
are you sure you have the right order in what is designated as in of
out for...man i'm sorry. i'll have to go out to the studio to see
which is which. like i said it's been a few months since i used sx.
...and since the other engineer hasn't been here to eff things up i
haven't had to fix it.

Rick,
"have you loaded in the sampler data crap...sorry i'm not at the puter
now and i don't remember the what the option label is to add specific
hardware for recognition."
Not sure what you're talking about here. I'll look for it though.
The way I read the graphic display is the column on the left is all the =
MIDI outputs.
I click the inputs to their right to route those MIDI outputs to those =
inputs. This works
fine once I've disconnected the USB. The reason I do this is because I =
need to program=20
synths using an Amiga (soon to go). To get Cubase to play audio to =
these synths I
have to reconnect the USB but the preset that allows the Amiga to edit =
no longer works!
Pain in the sphincter.
Major problem #1:
I set Cubase's MIDI input to #1 which is my controller's MIDI port but =
can't receive data
in Cubase. How should that be set to record MIDI data? I'm hoping to =
figure this out
on my own.
Major problem #2:
I wanted to send SMPTE to the MIDI Sport and thought it would be able to =
convert that
to MTC like the Motu box did. It seems it doesn't. I have heard that =
there is a way to get Cubase=20
to read SMPTE but am not sure how to do that. My other option I guess =
is to add a MIDI card to Paris and
another possibly to Cubase to allow MTC to do the syncing. More =
hardware I was hoping
to avoid for this task.
I'm about to try again. I'll come back for your response and tell you =
what I've learned.

hey tom,
wouldn't ya know it...i fire up the pc and now nothing works...
anyhow, in the Devices>Midi Device Manager>Device Installer lists all
the (most) keyboards and modules. This might be what you're looking
for.
also Devices>Device Setup what default midi input shows up
in the arrange window when you select the midi track the output should
be the midi port and the input should be the instrument
well i've got to get back out to the studio to see why i can step
input from the pro 88 but not real time....hell it worked
yesterday...go figure.
