Recording tabla? [message #103566] |

I've got a session next week where I'll need to mic up a tabla - I've seen some recommendations online, but just wanted to see if someone here had some particular tips.
I have a meagre mic locker at the moment. I've really only got budget LDCs at my fingertips right now - two Mike Joly-modded Oktava 319s (omni capsules, haven't got around to sending them in), a Studio Projects C1, and an Apex 460 (which will soon be sent to Dave Thomas for his Peluso mod - anyone tried it?). I do have some friends with better mic lockers to tap if needed.
Preamps are pretty good though - I've got one channel of Seventh Circle Audio N72 ("neve") and two of the C84s ("millennia") going straight into PARIS. So I'll finally be able to share some decently recorded examples of the SCAs afterwards for those that were interested in hearing them - tablas should give 'em a pretty good workout.
