Hey Bill,
If you're doing that kind of project, two things to check out. The Tempo
Delay from Voxengo (free and stupid cool) and the PSP 84 from PSP Audio.
The filter alone in the PSP (and the brilliant way in which it is implemented)
is worth the price alone.
Happy dubbing, and keep your copy of Scientist Wins the World Cup handy for
inspiration. Oh, a lot of the free/cheap mod f/x--phasers, flangers, etc.--sound
better stylistically for this kind of music than the 'good' and expensive
mod f/x sound.

I actually bought the audiodamage flanger and delay plug-ins. I'm on this
crazy Big Star kick and one of Alex Chilton's signature moves is putting
a HUGE mod effect on the backing vocals. I'm not sure exactly what the f/x
is, and I think it varies depending on the track, but it's definitely really
thick sounding modulation. The first two Big Star records were done at Ardent
in Memphis when it was just getting off the ground, so I don't suspect it's
anything terrifically high tech. Anyway, I haven't even installed them yet,
but by the descriptions and the manuals they seem to be written by someone
who thinks like I do and hears like I do.
I'll let you know what I find out,
