Hi All,

I've just posted my shinny, new multiband compressor for PARIS. It's a combo
of the X-Over and the PARIS Compressor, stitched together is EDS assembler
for your mixing and mastering pleasure. I wish I'd had this thing for the
last 10 years when dealing with boomy acoustic guitars.

As always, you can download it at www.ensoniq.ca. Just scroll down to the
bottom of the page.

Please let me know what you think of this one. I'm dying to hear how/if
these plugins are being used.

Also, please send me $$$$$! I'm broke, and I need to get my girlfriend a
ring!!!!

Cheers!
Mike

Mike,

I love you.

Not in a gay way.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Cheers,
Kim.

Hi Gantt,

Unfortunately, for now, it is only for the PC. As soon as Chuck can send
the development Mac, I'll compile them for OS 9.

This is definitely something I'm determined to do.

All the best,

Mike

Thanks, Tom!!

I think the next plug will be a mono-band version of this so that one could
use fewer DSP resources if it's just one band than needs to be tamed.

Any thoughts on what would be most useful to you after that?

Thanks again!

Mike

Hi Rod,

I can't wait to hear what you think of these things!

If you are concerned at all about blowing up your PARIS rig in the middle
of a project, uninstalling them is as easy as dragging them out of the plugins
directory. Believe me, as I develop these things, I knock down my computer
over and over, but I've never had any problem that couldn't be resolved by
just removing the files from the plugine directory.

Have a great holidays!

Mike

Hey you guys,

These plugs are harmless but also very useful.
You'll probably love what they can bring to the projects
you're in the middle of.

I haven't had anything catastrophic happen to my system installing or
using any of Mike's plugs. Goodness knows I've had that in the recent=20
past!

Cheers,
Tom

Hi John,

There's a mono and a stereo version in the one dll file.

Thanks for the loot!

Enjoy,

Mike

Hi Carl,

It is on my to do list, but my focus in on PARIS. I've always loved this
system, so VST will probably wait until there is nothing more for me to port,
the Mac versions are out, and the driver is perfect.

The day will come, though.

I love Paris as well - I'm not really sure what I'll switch to when my gear
goes ka-put, but I'd love to be able to incorporate a couple of these
plugins when the time comes. You would also have a much much bigger market
to sell these goodies.

Hey Mike !!
First I donate and then I download !
This is the least I can do for you !!!
I really love what you are doing.
Please note that your crossover plugin outputs some DC (high level !) sometimes
when first loaded and then you have to close and reload , but normally this
DC is there.
Anywhay your reverb is great !!
Any thoughts on getting rid of some resonances it produces ?
\your crossover is used a lot on my productions and your compressor too !
Only this DC thing if you please take a look at it.
Regards,
Dimitrios

Man oh man. Ok - I am loving this thing.

I push the hell out of the 2-track buss (eds comp) with my mixes, and
applying Mike's multiband version is letting me hit it like a madman, and
yet it's clearing things up and becoming more 'open' sounding. I am really
stoked about this.

Here's a sample of what I'm talking about - same mix, just a swap out of the
comps.

Sample A http://www.carlamburn.com/selfevident/Sample_A.wav << normal eds
comp

Sample B http://www.carlamburn.com/selfevident/Sample_B.wav << multiband
eds comp

woo hoo!,

Man, I tell you what I would REALLY love to see is a EDS DSP emulator
instead of ports to VST that could run as a vst.
THAT would completely rock dude. We've got the native kahunas to run tons of
EDS DSP now, if it could be emulated.

And this would allow a native Paris setup?

Both sound good... I think you're right about the 2nd one
sounding a little better/bigger/more open, though.

"Hit it like a madman" - is that anything like "spank it like a
rented mule"? :)

You should post the whole song if you're able... I like the
tune - is that your own stuff?

Cool Neil. Glad someone else hears it and I'm not going totally nuts. ! :)

Those samples are for some stuff that is yet to be released - so I don't
really feel comfortable posting more than that. BUT - they are a really cool
band from Minneapolis called Self-Evident.
http://www.myspace.com/selfevident Not much going on with vocal melodies,
more of a spoken verse-type thing over *very* proggy 3-piece rock - however,
they seem to lock onto some great "anthem" riffs and hooks here and there.

The first one sounds really good as Neil said, but you kinda need something
good obviously.

The second one however keeps giving me that feeling that I'm excited about
the music. ;o) I go back to the first and go "Nah, that's just as good" and
then to the second and go "Oh, no it's not".

So I kinda sounds better each time I switch.

I sooooo gotta get my Paris up and running and try this one. This is the
one. Want want want! :o)

Must find some money for Mike. How good!

Cheers,
Kim.

Mike I willbe donating first quarter 08. Thank you thank you thank you for
all the work you've done with these nice Paris Plugins.

I love working in Paris and with these new plugins, I'll continue to use
Paris for my $$ jobs..

Man~!! I hear the difference! mix B was way more open, yet still retained
it's agressive nature..

Well, you may in fact be going totally nuts, for all I know; but
your discernment of a difference between compressor "A", and
compressor "B" in those examples is, at least, still intact LOL!

This would allow native access to all the EDS DSP through VST. Mike could
iLOK the emulator and sell that as a separate app if so desired.
I'd buy in a heartbeat.

Keep in mind that if it was done "interpreter" style it would chew up a LOT
of resources per plug. Like 20 X what the plug should use.

Though he could always look at the compiling option... which would be far
more processor efficient. I actually suspect that even an interpreter based
version wouldn't be too greedy. I imagine the curves and quirks of the Paris
EDS commands could be emulated more quickly than some of the analog emulations.

Cheers,
Kim.

Actually, I tried both those things, but my acoustic guitar has rosewood
back and sides, and it is just boomy as hell.

What I ended up doing was stuffing face cloths inside it to dampen it, like
you would do with a bass drum. :)

Hi Dimitrios,

Are there any specific circumstances when the DC offset becomes apparent?
I'd like to try to squish that bug as soon as I get home. I'm visiting
family for the holidays, but I'll be home late in the week.

Thanks for the feedback!

Happy holidays!

Mike
