Guys,

In contemplating bringing Paris into a studio that already has a PT rig
hooked up to their Trident 80B, how would you swap the two systems (ie, what
gozinta goesouta etc)?

I'm thinking something like:
(2) MEC
MEC A/D inputs fed from the console busses
MEC D/A outputs feeding console tape ret'ns

In Paris, assign each track to it's own insert output?

Thoughts? I just want a big tape deck that interfaces with the studio's
in-place Cue8 system, talkback, dynamics, patchbay etc.

Sandy

We used to do this when we had the MCI. I had a second set of Tuchel
multipins for the console and swaped between the DTRS rack and Paris
buy moving the multi's around. If you have enough patch bay
realestate, you could hook both up and patch between.

For I/O of Paris you can use either the inserts or Aux sends.

David.

You used the insert sends on Paris to route each track to its own output, or
Auxes if you needed to combine and then return to the console?

I haven't done it but it seems like you should be able to leave Paris in
"record-ready" mode and monitor input when stopped and repro when playing
back.

You can use the post fade Aux sends for the outputs to the console...
this allows you to use the inserts for processing, and fader
automation in Paris on mix. Simply set all the Aux sends to external
and patch "Send 1 left" to output 1, 'Send 1 right' to output 2 etc.
You would have to use outboard effects, or switch back to ITB to mix
using Paris FX. As far as monitoring goes, Paris behaves exactly like
a tape machine would so no adjustment needed there.

Aaahhh, the stereo Aux, of course.
Excellent!

Thanks,

Sandy
