Hey everyone. This is my first post. It has been a long time since I have been active in a PARIS community online. Maybe since 2003ish. Sadly, I have been using paris for 7 years and I still am not an expert.

BUT

Here is a cool tip that I want to share to anyone who might not know about this (I didn't until someone online told me).

If you set up a project with all your faders named and windows sized the way you like them, and all you views programmed and patch bay configured etc...

You can save that file in the folder with the Paris .exe file as "Default Project" and it will open automatically every time you open Paris.

Kind of a cool way to save a bunch of time.

Anyway- props to you if you already knew that and if you didn't, give it a shot.

-Phil

Hey Philip - welcome to the forum, glad you found us!

As far as being a PARIS expert - you may not realize what a PARIS expert you've actually become over the years Very Happy. There's a lot of PARIS users who come to the forums who reckon they aren't experts, but sometimes we take what we've learned for granted. I know a Mac user who's been making albums on it pretty much daily for years, and knows all sorts of cool tricks - and who doesn't consider himself an expert (although he definitely is one).

So thanks for the post on default songs - all sorts of tips, from general usage to "power user tips", are going to be useful again for the next wave of PARIS users. I'm going to be spending some time on the phone helping one tonight, we're going to be covering basics (in this case how submixes work).

By "next wave" - I don't mean original PARIS owners who are dusting off their old PARIS rigs to check out recent/upcoming advances. Predictably enough, we're starting to see the first wave of *new PARIS users* in many years - folks who are attracted by the price/performance ratio, the bargain-basement prices for "big studio" sonics/latency that native DAWs are only now beginning to approach (and even then, only with significant investment). These folks, who are buying or inheriting old PARIS rigs for the first time, are going to be coming to grips with many things existing users take for granted. And whether or not they see themselves as experts, the expertise of the folks like yourself who have "been there done that" will be of great value to them.

So once again - welcome aboard, and thanks!

Yes, works with Mac as well, I used that all the time back in my Mac days.

Remember to add "remove the default song from the app folder" at the beginning of your troubleshooting process if you have any problems booting PARIS later, since on occasion default songs can become corrupted. I'll dig around and try to refresh my memory on the pros/cons of default songs.
