I want to build some WC cables of equal length. Thje intital run from my
master clock to the distro module is 4 meters so the remaining 9 cables I
need to build (8 more WC cables and one AES cable) will need to be 4 meters
also. I can't afford the premade Zoalla or Apogee stuff. I'm looking for raw
75 ohm (and 110 ohm) cable of the highest quality I can afford with the best
connectors I can afford. I don't want my square waves even thinking about
turning into triangle waves due to high capacitance.

I know Canare is good stuff. I have some 110 ohm Mogami here. What would
youse guys suggest for the lowest capacitance?

Thanks,

Deej

Hey DJ,

This is what I use here...

LV61S:

BCP Plugs:
http://www.canare.com/index.cfm?objectid=7222AEAE-3048-7098- AF30E16BAE049F58

AES Cable (110 Ohm):
http://www.canare.com/index.cfm?objectid=EDD1B80A-3048-7098- AFD22323EAB88532

I get great results with the LV61S coax for word clock and SPDIF. The
only thing is, you will need to buy an appropriate crimp tool to
attach the ends. Proper 75Ohm ends can not be soldered... only
crimped. I have some 25' runs of this feeding the Paris and Nuendo
computers, and several other devices with no trouble. The DA202 is a
really nice 110 Ohm AES cable that fits well into XLR plugs. Note...
use Switchcraft XLR connectors for AES signals... the standard Neutrik
plugs mess with the impedance somewhat.

David.

Thanks Dave. I think the purchase of a crimping tool would be in order
considering the cost of premade cables.

;o)
