Hi all

I'm posting for a guitarist friend who's looking to get a better audio card
to record and transfer files from his 002r

He needs 2 audio inputs and the rest in light pipe -16 tracks minimum (he
says)

I suggested the Lynx series as a starting point for both quality and price
and he thought that was reasonable

Ant other suggestions.

Please send links if you can so I can C&P them to him

thanks in advance

HI Don,
Do you mean the Digidesign oo2 rack or the Yamaha 02r mixer?
Is he dumping Pro Tools? If he wants to transfer audio to another
program and start using a different sound card all he needs to do is
export the project as OMF or as broad cast wave file.
He will be able to open them in any current program at that point.

If he is looking to get out from under the thumb of Digi then it will
matter which OS he has for the sound card choice.
Is he needing to replicate the Digi's I/O as in Mic-Pre amps etc? If so
then there is nothing Lynx Makes that will work also there are no
options for the Mac side.
The closest thing that will be higher sound quality but similar I/O
configuration would be the RME Fireface 800.
If he doesn't need the pres and just wants line level and digital then
there are more options available.

Assuming he wants a stereo analog I/O and 16 channels of ADAT.
PC-
Lynx L22 PCI card with the LS-ADAT expansion card
RME HDSP 9652 PCI card and RME HDSP 9632 PCI card (more digital than he
wanted but a powerful combo)

MAC-
RME PCI-e versions of the above cards

Other than that the RME fireface 800 is the only device that will be the
closest I/O to the digi 002r that will be of a higher sound quality.
