Hi All,
As far as I can tell, the motherboard chip-set does not matter for PARIS, but it does matter for expansion boxes.
I did a bios update on my PC about two weeks ago, and I noticed that I was getting audio crackles on certain projects that used a lot of UAD plugins in PARIS. Flashing the bios back to the earlier version didn't fix the problem. If I take my two PARIS cards out of my old Magma expansion chassis and place them right on the motherboard, everything works perfectly. But, not in the chassis.
So, I decided to order the Virtua Via expansion chassis to see if that fixed my chassis issues in my AMD chip-set based computer. It didn't.
I've been running on an AMD 790G based computer. Here's how it does with the expansion chassis post bios update.
PARIS in the 32 bit Magma chassis with AMD chipset: 20 tracks before crackles.
PARIS in the Virtua Via chassis with AMD chipset: 7 tracks before crackles.
Here's how the Virtua Via did in a Nvidia based motherboard (ASUS M2MPV-VM): 32 tracks and no crackles whatsoever.
I'll be replacing my AMD chipset based motherboard with an Nvidia based motherboard as soon as I can afford to.
I just thought I should let everybody know what I've found out.
All the best,
Mike
