Hey Folks,

Over the past month, about a day a week, my PARIS system has pretty much
freaked out.
Pops, crackles, arcade sounds, etc.
It's been hot here in NJ so I figured it was a temprature thing.
I took the eds cards out - cleaned them and re-installed - all was fine for
about two weeks
Now I have the same problem but it's worse.

Any thoughts? Should I consider the power suppy.
The PC runs fine other than the paris problems.

It's probably a bad eds card - hopefull not the one tied to the software.

Windows 98 se
1 CPU AMD - Athlon (~1725 MHz)

3 eds
mec
2 8 in
1 8 out
1 adat

TIA!

Lance -on PARIS since 1999

What about cleaning inside the computer for dust, motherboard, all cards,
the processor fan/all fans and the powersupply?

Sounds to me as if the EDS cards are getting too hot.
Leave PC's cover off for a while, and even add a fan to cool the
innards.
Power supplies are cheap.
It's worth considering a replacement, even if this is not the
core problem. You may find that a new supply will be more efficient,
and not generate as much heat.
Worst case... old supplies can go "poof", and fry your mobo and/or peripherals.
(EDS cards!).
Least case... you will have a supply that is up to spec
for the next couple of years, thereby eliminating age related
voltage drop. You don't need to buy anything expensive.
Even a low-end Antec, Thermaltake or similar, is going to be
better than a generic P/S that comes standard with cheap cases.
I have a 4 EDS system here, and in hot weather, I leave the side
panel off, and even blu-tacked a fan to the bottom of the case,
blowing over the EDS's.
Heat, (especially with multiple EDS's), could well be the enemy.

HI Lance,
You also might have other components getting hot such as the power supply.
The power can drop in voltage if over heating and cause other components to act weird or die.
If the machine is that old and you still using a the same power supply you might want to look at getting a newer one.
