That's really nice but I'm wondering if this is a cheaper solution that would
work.

That Samson is pretty sweet from what I can see. 3 outputs per group (4 groups)
and a pan for the aux in / stereo mix.

I bought one of the Samson passive monitor switching devices a few months
ago. It was absolutely the worst POS I've ever strapped across a signal,
with the exception of a Behringer line mixer that I once tried. I'd asy that
you have a great possibility of having your cue mix sound like it's under a
blanket if you buy this.

Seriously.....you need to spend more money and get something that works
rather than spend less and waste what you have.

Rolls makes a pretty good line of products at a reasonable price.

I'd bet that this is far and above the Samson:

http://www.zzounds.com/item--RLLRA62C

I have a couple of the PM50's here for multing out of my HRM 16's if I need
it
http://www.zzounds.com/item--RLLPM50S
and I have been very satisfied with them

No kiddin amigo.........I'd stay away from those Samsons. Awful stuff in my
experience.

That's probably even worse then. You've got a cheap active circuit to
contend with.

DON'T BUY THE ROLLs! I've got a 6 ch. Rolls, the transformer is noisy.
I've never really used it, maybe twice. it's not so noisy in the cans,
it's out side. When it's quiet in the room, you can hear it humming in the
rack. If you really want one cheap I'd sell it to you for $70.00 plus shipping.
For Pop or rock in roll it would work fine, but for quiet stuff, you'd need
to keep looking.

....so it's only Behringer left...;-)
http://www.behringer.com/02_products/audio_index.cfm?lang=EN G#HEADPHONE/MONITORING%20AMPLIFIERS

I have http://www.behringer.com/HA4600/index.cfm?lang=ENG and have used it
for years without any problems.
I also have http://www.behringer.com/HA400/index.cfm?lang=ENG and
http://www.behringer.com/AMP800/index.cfm?lang=ENG . These two, I'm using in
my mobile studio and havn't had any problems at all when travelling with
them many months this year. The smallest one havn't so much headroom, so it
don't like to get over 0DB at all, but it's doing the job very well for me
when taking care of the headroom.

.....but they're all Behringers;-)...

As you know, Doug, I have plenty of Behringer products here, buyed up
against the years and noone have ever giving me any problems;-o) Some of
them are sounding badly enough to not be used but most of them are doing the
job more then good enough;-) The last 4-5 years I have used Behringer
ULTRA-DYNE PRO to do the digital sum job when mixing with Paris. I have
tried many different things here up against the years but always ending up
with this digital audioswissknife.

But I needed to read the manual plenty of times to find out how to use the 6
compressors:-)

Behringer manuals are a joke and show not thought at all. I think they
do them over lunch while having other conversations.

That's weird! I've been using the Rolls 6-channel for about five years and
it is totally silent. Have been very happy with it. I think there must be
a bad component that's causing the audible noise as mine is quiet as could
be.

James must have one of the early models with a carbuerator..........before
fuel injection came along.

Sometimes you get a transformer that pulls apart and hums. My Mackie
1202 does it now where it did not before. I'm sure a $15 replacement
xformer would fix it but it's not enough yet to make me do it.

I use the little Rolls 4 channel. HA-43 Works well.

The best I have used though is the Rane HC 6:

http://www.rane.com/hc6.html

Street price about 379.00 USD. 6 stereo channels, sounds great, and will
drive any cans you can find. There is a 4 channel one also, but I have not
used it.

I use the smaller Furman device, and it works great. It includes the HDS-6
and a variable number of HR-6 mini-mixers at the musician's end. Gives each
player a stereo mix and four individual channels. Much cheaper than the
16 channel system DJ is using. I guess it depends on how many players you
will have at one time and how much you want to spend.

Yeah, those early Solex-Kadrons sure make a big sucking noise.

Happy holidays Deej!

Presonus HP4. 4 headphone out jacks. Just a little electonic noise
coloration but simple. Plenty of boost. I take Paris 3-4 out (monitor)
into it. All headphone outs are the same mix, ie, Paris L/R. About $100
bucks at GC.
