Using Paris 3.0 and an older MIDI program on an Apple G4 OS9.2, I’ve been
able to develop practical methods of writing music and lyrics and recording
in Paris, but the same can’t be said for creating drum accompaniment. I have
lots of great drum sounds and a good ear for jazz and latin drums, but I
lack either the right software or the right approach. Although I occasionally
create a drum loop that I like, I’ve yet to discover how best to adjust and
modify the loop to suit the various parts of the song—the verse, bridge,
chorus, etc.

Is there some good software out there—something like Acid Pro or Fruity Loops
or Ableton Live—that would work on my old 9.2 system? Or is there simply
a better way to use the gear that I have—a general approach or methodoloy
that hasn’t occurred to me yet?

Many thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions you may have.

Best wishes,
Richard Faylor
