I've owned a PARIS system since 2000 - only used it off and on due to moving from NYC to London and now to France.

Although I'm using a couple of other systems right now, I really miss PARIS and I'd like to get my system up and running again. My Win98 machine is iffy, so I thought it might be a good time to finally go over to XP. I have a machine from 2004-ish - 2.4GHz P4 - that I thought I'd use.

I have a bunch of docs on installing onto XP, but I can't seem to find the original PARIS XP drivers. As my machine isn't multiple CPU, would Mike's new drivers be overkill? Would there be any other benefits to using them (aside from supporting his good work?).

Any other tips would be great. Looking forward to getting my system back up and running.

Myles

Heya Myles - according to Mike, the old drivers will be a tiny bit more optimized for single-CPU machines (although it's hard to say whether this would be noticeable). On the other hand Mike's new drivers squash a number of bugs that plagued the old ones, particularly an issue with multiple ADAT cards or multiple MECs.

An enormous plus for anyone considering the new ones is that Mike Audet can help you through installation tech support issues that arise - not something that can be said about any of the earlier efforts (although there is a lot of collective wisdom about them searchable here on the forums to help you). And as you mention, it does encourage further PARIS development.

You can find the old drivers correctly linked from here.
